PIPEON is a Horizon Europe research and innovation project aiming to transform the inspection, monitoring and maintenance of urban sewer networks through intelligent robotics, artificial intelligence and advanced sensing technologies. The project addresses the growing challenges of aging underground infrastructure, limited accessibility and hazardous working conditions by developing autonomous robotic systems capable of operating in complex and confined sewer environments.
PIPEON integrates robotics, AI-based data analysis, real-time monitoring and digital mapping to enable automated defect detection, condition assessment and predictive maintenance. By reducing the need for manual inspections, the project improves worker safety, operational efficiency and environmental protection, while supporting more resilient and sustainable urban infrastructure management.

Within the PIPEON consortium, UNEXMIN GeoRobotics Ltd. contributes its expertise in autonomous robotic systems, subsurface data acquisition and operation in challenging underground environments. UNEXMIN supports the development and validation of robotic inspection solutions and data-driven workflows that enhance situational awareness and decision-making in sewer network monitoring and maintenance.
